Marion Man Killed in Howard County Crash
Howard County, IN - Today, at approximately 1:05 p.m., Indiana State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash at County Roads 700 East and 400 North that killed a Marion, IN man.
Preliminary investigation by Senior Trooper Lee Williams revealed that George J. Manos, 80, Amboy, IN, was driving a 1998 Ford F-150 pickup truck southbound on County Road 700 East. Manos failed to yield at the intersection of County Road 400 North and struck an eastbound 1997 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Jeffery C. Richwine, 35, Marion, IN. Richwine was ejected from his truck and pronounced dead at the scene by Howard County Deputy Coroner George M. Carter of suspected head and internal injuries. Manos was transported by ambulance to Howard Community Hospital with non- life threatening injuries.
Richwine was not wearing a seat belt which could have prevented his ejection. Manos was wearing a seat belt which helped reduce his injuries.
This is an ongoing investigation.
Senior Trooper Williams was assisted at the scene by the Howard County Sheriff’s Department, Howard County EMS, Greentown Fire Department, and Greentown Marshal’s Office..
